Staff Notes:
On May 17, 2022, Colleen Cohn of DWR RRO and James Lastinger of the USACE made a site visit to Lost
Tree Lane to discuss potential bank stabilization project. During the site visit, Ms. Cohn spoke with Mr.
Michael Cook, owner of 241 Lost Tree Lane, Cary. Mr. Cook stated that he had been trying to replace a
previously damaged porch for several years, and he had worked with multiple contractors trying to get a
Buffer Authorization. Ms. Cohn noted that it did appear that there had been a porch on the back of the
house, and that entry/exit from the back of the home was limited without the deck as a door was
several feet up in the air and inaccessible without stairs or a deck.
Based on the application received April 26, 2022, it appears that the requested porch is within the
footprint of the original porch.
