John,
I have reviewed the PCN application you submitted for Mr. Donald Mills at 6032 Waters Edge
Drive near Rocky Mount on the Tar River Reservoir. In reviewing the plans for the dock and
boathouse it appears that the square footage for shading has been exceeded. The Regional
General Permit 197800056 (RGP 56)(link attached) indicates that the allowable shaded area
for the dock and mooring facility (this one is covered and included in the square footage) is 8sf
per linear footage of shoreline (601f). That total is 480 allowable square feet. Per the submitted
plans the pier and dock total 1004 square feet.
Please redesign the pier and dock to meet the required allowable size and resubmit for further
review. I included the link below so you can review the RGP 56 Special Conditions. Specifically
conditions (f) through (I).
