Dear Ms, Perez:
Per the Notice of Violation for Peppertree Resort dated August 3, 2022 (copy enclosed),
We would like to respond to the items per the description of Violation.
Item 1:
Inspection Area: Treatment: Full description of the facility addressing the discrepancies
between the,facility description in the permit and the actual plant, needs to be submitted.
Response. Robert Howard, Operator, with Fortin Contract Service sent a response with map
and description.
Item 2:
Inspection area: Record Keeping. Annual Soil analysis has not been conducted on the
infiltrationfields as required.
Response: Working with Local Dept of Agriculture on this.
Item 3:
Inspection area. Record Keeping: Submittal of an Operator Designation Form is required to
update current ORCIBORC
Response: The form was done and sent to Management at Peppertree to complete with
signatures of the Permittee and to forward on to DWQ. They should have completed this. Done
over a month ago.
Item 4.
Inspection area: Treatment activated sludge: The 2 blowers from the nouthside plant were not
operable.
Response: We are waiting for a Purchase Order Number from Peppertree so we can order and
proceed to fix this.
Item 5:
Inspection area: Treatment: The dosing tank is severely corroded and in need ofsandblasting,
repair and reeoating or replacement.
Response: A contractor is in the process of getting prices together for approval for this.
Item 6'
Inspection area: Treatment Disinfection: The UV System for the southside plant is inoperable.
The system needs to be replaced or a proper disinfection contact chamber needs to be installed
Response: This item will be taken care of when we replace the field dosing tank.

Dear Permittee:
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an Inspection of the Peppertree Resort WWTP on
July 27, 2022. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility Is operating in compliance with the
conditions and limitations specified in Non -discharge Permit No, WQ0011313. A summary of the findings and
comments noted during the inspection are provided In the enclosed copy of the inspection report.
The Compliance Evaluation inspection was conducted by Division of Water Resources staff from the Wilmingtor
Regional Office. The following violation(s) were noted during the Inspection:

The dosing tank is severely corroded and in need of sandblasting, repair and recoating
or replacement (V.2).
The UV system for the southside plant is inoperable. The system needs to be replaced or
a proper disinfection contact chamber needs to be installed (V.2).
Remedial actions should have already been taken to correct these problems and prevent further occurrences in the
future. The Division of Water Resources may pursue enforcement action for this and any additional violations of
State law.
T"o prevent further action, please respond in writing to this office within 30 days upon your receipt of this Notice
of Violation regarding your plans or measures to be taken to address the indicated violations and other identified
issues, if applicable.
