RE: PCN Application Package for 85 If of Stream Impacts &
1990 sf of Buffer Impacts for Maram Court Bank Stabilization
The City of Raleigh Public Works Department,
Stormwater Management Division
Wake County, North Carolina
Dear Ms. Higgins;
15401 Weston Parkway
Suite 100
Cary, NC 27513
Main: 919 678 0035
www. ws pg r o u p. corn/ u s a
The project consists of removing a timber retaining wall and restoring the right bank at the property
located at 5612 Maram Court. The project is on private property but the work will be done by the City of
Raleigh Public Works Department, Stormwater Management Division as a part of the City's Stormwater
Drainage Cost Share Program. This program is a "drainage assistance program to provide cost - sharing
assistance for engineering design and construction of the improvements" on private property. In
addition, "the property owner must be willing to provide the necessary easements to construct the
improvements and share in the cost of the repairs ". The property owner at the listed address is a
participant in the Stormwater Drainage Cost Share Program for the above listed project.
The existing timber retaining wall located on the right stream bank of an UT to Hog Pen Branch is
heaving forward and is in need of removal. To restore the bank being retained by the wall to a natural
channel bank, this project will remove the retaining wall and slope the right bank back at a slope of
2(H):1(V). The newly constructed channel back/slope will be stabilized after construction utilizing
temporary matting and live stakes. Disturbed areas, due to construction access, within the steam
buffers will be reseeded at the completion of the project.
The project will permanently impact the UT stream and surrounding Neuse River Buffer. The project will
create 85 If of permanent stream impacts and 1990 sf of buffer impacts (1730 Zone 1 and 260 Zone 2).
Permanent stream impacts are for riprap stabilization in the stream. The buffer consists of the back yard
of 5612 Maram Court with the majority of the buffer covered with grass and a few trees. No wetlands are
present.
It is WSP's pleasure to submit this PCN application package on behalf of the City of Raleigh. Please feel
free to contact me at (919) 678 -0035 or dale.hyatt @wspgroul).com if you have any questions or
comments.
Sincerely,
Dale Hy t, PE, CF
