GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF RALEIGH STORMWATER DESIGN MANUAL, PUBLIC
UTILITY HANDBOOK, AND CITY OF RALEIGH STANDARD DETAILS. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT WITH THE LATEST OSHA STANDARDS FOR EXCAVATION
AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES. CONTRACTOR USE SUPPORT SYSTEMS, SLOPING, BENCHING ETC. AS NECESSARY
FOR THESE OPERATIONS AND SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL OSHA PERFORMANCE CRITERIA.
3. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTACTING NORTH CAROLINA "ONE CALL" CENTER AT 1 -800- 632 -4949 FROM
ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES, OR 811 FROM WITHIN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA.
CONTRACTOR SHALL WAIT 48 HOURS WHILE UTILITIES LOCATE AND MARK THEIR UNDERGROUND FACILITIES.
NOTIFICATION SHOULD BE NO LESS THAN 2, BUT NO MORE THAN 10, WORKING DAYS BEFORE COMMENCING
EXCAVATION. THE MARKINGS ARE VALID FOR 15 WORKING DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE CALL TO THE
NOTIFICATION CENTER.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM ALL NECESSARY SUBSURFACE UTILITY INVESTIGATIONS PRIOR TO COMMENCING
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD VERIFICATION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS,
OBSTRUCTION, AND UTILITIES WHICH MAY AFFECT PROPOSED WORK.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING CONTINUITY OF ALL UTILITIES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
6. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING SAFE INGRESS AND EGRESS FROM SITE FOR ALL VEHICLES,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, TRAFFIC ON ADJACENT PUBLIC ROADS AFFECTED BY CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT WITH ALL REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE DEMOLITION,
REMOVAL, TRANSPORTATION AND DISPOSAL OF ALL DEMOLITION DEBRIS.
8. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DOCUMENTING CONDITIONS OF ALL EXISTING APPURTENANCES
(FENCING, DECKING, PAVERS, DRIVEWAYS, ETC.) THAT MAY REQUIRE REMOVAL AND RESETTING AS A RESULT OF
THIS PROJECT.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO APPURTENANCES (FENCING, DRIVEWAYS, ETC.)
DURING REMOVAL, STOCKPILING AND RESETTING OF THESE APPURTENANCES. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING ANY DAMAGED APPURTENANCES.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL UTILIZE, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PRACTICAL, LIGHTWEIGHT EQUIPMENT
(MINI- EXCAVATOR(S), SKID STEER(S), ETC.) TO PERFORM CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE
DISTURBANCE TO LAWNS AND LANDSCAPING.
11. THE INSTALLATION OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AND PRACTICES SHALL OCCUR PRIOR TO ANY AND ALL
ACTIVITIES RELATED TO STREAM RESTORATION.
12. LOCATION OF SUB - SURFACE UTILITIES, WHETHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, IS BASED UPON FILED LOCATION OF VISIBLE
APPURTENANCES AND IS APPROXIMATE ONLY. IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY LOCATION
PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF ANY CONSTRUCTION.
13. ALL DIMENSIONS AND GRADES SHOWN ON THE PLANS SHALL BE FIELD VERIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY OWNER IF ANY DISCREPANCIES EXIST PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
14. ALL GRADED AREAS SHALL BE SLOPED SUCH THAT NO AREAS OF STANDING WATER OCCUR AND ALL AREAS
POSITIVELY DRAIN TO STREAMS OR SWALES.
15. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RESTORING ALL LAND DISTURBED BY CONTRACTOR TO ITS ORIGINAL
GRADE AND LOCATION UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
16. TOTAL PROJECT DISTURBED AREA = 3508 SF.
1. ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF RALEIGH STANDARD
DETAILS AND NCDO.T GUIDELINES.
2. ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES MUST TAKE PLACE WITH THE LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE, INGRESS /EGRESS
EASEMENTS, OR TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS ONLY. ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF THESE SPECIFIC AREAS ARE
STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
3. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE CONSTRUCTION SITE IN A SAFE AND ORDERLY CONDITION
AND ADHERING TO THE EROSION CONTROL PLAN AS SET FORTH HEREIN. DEVIATION FROM THE EROSION CONTROL
PLAN IS NOT ALLOWED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE DESIGNER.
4. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REGULAR INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL EROSION CONTROL
MEASURES. ALL MEASURES SHALL BE INSPECTED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ANY MEASURABLE STORM EVENT.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS REQUIRED SHALL,OCCUR AS SOON AS FEASIBLE.
5. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING WEATHER CONDITIONS, AND FOR TAKING PREVENTATIVE ACTION
AS NECESSARY TO :STABILIZE THE CONSTRUCTION SITE PRIOR TO FORECASTED /FORSEEABLE STORM EVENTS.
6. CONTRACTOR TO MIINIMIZE TRACKING EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED SEDIMENT /DEBRIS FROM THE CONSTRUCTION
SITE ONTO THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY. IF EXCESSIVE SEDIMENT /DEBRIS IS OBSERVED ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF
WAY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING A TEMPORARY GRAVEL
CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE
7. IF IT IS DETERMINED DURING CONSTRUCTION THAT SIGNIFICANT SEDIMENT IS LEAVING THE SITE, DESPITE PROPER
IMPLEMENTATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE EROSION CONTROL MEASURES, THE CONTRACTOR IS OBLIGATED TO
TAKE ADDITIONAL CORRECTIVE ACTION. CONTACT THE CITY OF RALEIGH AND THE ENGINEER WITH ANY ADDITIONAL
MEASURES.
8. TEMPORARY PUMP- AROUND BASEFLOW DURING CONSTRUCTION. ALL BANK STABILIZATION SHALL BE PREFORMED
IN THE DRY. WORK AREAS SHALL BE STABILIZED AT THE END OF THE DAY.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL ESTABLISH GROUND COVER ON DISTURBED AREAS OUTSIDE OF STREAM BANKS WITHIN 14
CALENDAR DAYS AFTER COMPLETION OF ANY PHASE OF GRADING OR INACTIVITY.
10. CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY LOCATION AND DEPTH OF EXISTING UTILITIES TO AVOID CONFLICT DURING INSTALLATION
OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES. CONTRACTOR TO CALL 1- 800 - 632 -4949 FOR "NC ONE CALL" TO HAVE EXISTING
UTILITIES LOCATED'.,
11. INSTALL TEMPORARY SILT FENCING AS SHOWN ON THE APPROVED PLAN. CLEAR ONLY AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL
THESE DEVICES.
12. REMOVE TEMPORARY SEDIMENT AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ONCE SITE IS FULLY STABLE. CONTACT THE
CITY OF RALEIGH AND THE ENGINEER FOR SITE WALK- THROUGH PRIOR TO REMOVING ANY TEMPORARY SEDIMENT
AND EROSION CONTROL DEVICES.
CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE:
1. OBTAIN REQUIRED PERMITS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO USACE 404, DWQ 401, BUFFER AUTHORIZATION, ETC.
PRIOR TO ANY WORK PERFORMED ON SITE.
2. CONTRACTOR TO :SCHEDULE PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE WITH THE CITY OF RALEIGH AND THE ENGINEER
PRIOR TO STARTING WORK.
3. INSTALL SILT FENCE AND OTHER MEASURES AS SHOWN ON THE APPROVED PLANS. CLEAR ONLY AS NECESSARY TO
INSTALL THESE DEVICES.
4. CALL FOR ONSITE INSPECTION BY CITY OF RALEIGH AND THE ENGINEER.
5. BEGIN CLEARING, GRUBBING, AND TREE REMOVAL.
6. ESTABLISH GROUIND COVER ON DISTURBED AREAS WITHIN 14 DAYS OF INACTIVITY.
7. BEGIN DILAPIDATED WALL DEMOLITION /REMOVAL. CONTRACTOR TO REMOVE WALL IN A MANNER THAT DOES NOT
DISTURB STREAM CHANNEL
8. BEGIN BANK STABIILIZATION CONSTRUCTION STARTING UPSTREAM AND PROCEEDING DOWNSTREAM.
9. UTILIZE TEMPORARY STREAM DIVERSION TO ENSURE WORK AREA IS ISOLATED FROM STREAM BASE FLOW. ONLY
PERFORM BANK STABILIZATION WORK IN THE DRY.
10. STABILIZE WORK AREA AT THE END OF EACH DAY.
11. WHEN CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE AND ALL AREAS STABILIZED CALL FOR INSPECTION BY CITY OF RALEIGH AND
THE ENGINEER.
12. IF SITE IS APPROVED REMOVE TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AND SEED OUT ANY RESULTING BARE
AREAS.
13. CALL FOR FINAL SITE INSPECTION BY THE CITY OF RALEIGH AND THE ENGINEER.

2. SANDBAG DIKES SHOULD BE SITUATED AT THE ENDS OF THE WORK AREA AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS,
AND POND WATER SHOULD BE PUMPED AROUND THE WORK AREA. THE PUMP SHOULD DISCHARGE
ONTO A STABLE VELOCITY DISSIPATER MADE OF RIPRAP OR SANDBAGS.
3. WATER FROM THE WORK AREA SHOULD BE PUMPED TO A SEDIMENT FILTERING MEASURE SUCH AS A
DEWATERING BASIN, SEDIMENT BAG, OR OTHER APPROVED SOURCE. THE MEASURE SHOULD BE
LOCATED SUCH THAT THE WATER DRAINS DOWNSTREAM OF THE POND.
4. AFTER AN AREA IS COMPLETED AND STABILIZED, THE CLEAN WATER DIKE SHOULD BE REMOVED.
AFTER THE FIRST SEDIMENT FLUSH, A NEW CLEAN WATER DIKE WOULD BE ESTABLISHED FROM THE
OLD SEDIMENT DIKE. FINALLY, UPON ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW SEDIMENT DIKE BELOW THE OLD
ONE, THE OLD SEDIMENT DIKE SHOULD BE REMOVED.
