Subject: C204368 - Silt Loss STA 35+25 -Y5- LT
Art,
Please see the attached information showing the location of a silt loss on Contract C204368 (R-3421 B). The estimated
silt loss is less than 1/4 of a cubic yard, this was due to a rain event on Saturday of 1.5" in 24 hours. It appears that this
area has slowly built up sediment in this location due to material upstream and a small undermining of the silt fence in
this area. Vecelio and Grogan has already repaired the silt fence in this area. This silt loss was contained in a temporary
stream diversion set in place until the 60" RCP Class V can be placed under -Y5-, this pipe system can not be completed
until -Y5- is shut down due to grade changes. I have attached a plan sheet showing the exact location of the silt loss and
what part of the temporary channel this silt was contained. I have also attached 2 pictures for reference, in the pictures
you can see that the silt has not migrated to the Temporary 24" HDPE pipe. We plan on doing a pump around and
cleaning this portion of the temporary channel. If you have any other guidance in order to keep silt from migrating from
upstream please let me know. If you would like to take a look at the area, I will be on site all day tomorrow or any time
next week.
If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
Thanks,
Darren Cranford
