Inspection Summary:
On September 15, 2022, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Caudle conducted a routine compliance inspection. Sarah
Sams, property owner, was present during the entire inspection. A review of all treatment components and available records
was completed. This review reflected compliance with the subject permit.
Other observations:
• There is a large drainage ditch downslope of the spray field. There was no standing or flowing water in the ditch. This is
a stormwater feature.
• The correct chlorine tablets were being used. A brochure will be provided about chlorine tablets.
• Mr. Sams keeps an electronic log of all maintenance on his phone. Mrs. Sams stated that he checks the system
monthly.
• The septic tank was last pumped June 2022. As a reminder, the permit requires the septic tank be inspected monthly
and pumped as needed (III.12.a.)
• There is not a rain sensor connected to the system.
• The sand filter is below ground.
• The chlorine contact chamber is available for review through a well casing.
• The water supply well is over 100ft from the septic tank. It is housed in a barn upslope of the system.
• Please be mindful of vegetation growing in the spray field. Vegetation should not be allowed to impede the spray pattern.
Pruning vegetation back may occasionally be necessary.
