PROJECT DESCRIPTION
THIS PROJECT INCLUDES THE DISTURBANCE OF 0.95 AC TO PROVIDE APPROXIMATELY 470 LF OF
STREAM RESTORATION.
GENERAL NOTES
1. EXISTING SITE INFORMATION IS BASED ON FIELD -RUN SURVEY DATA COMPLETED BY TIDEMARK
LAND SERVICES, ON 08-26-2020. ALL SITE FEATURES TO BE FIELD VERIFIED BY CONTRACTOR
PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION.
2. NOTIFY TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL INSPECTORS 24 HOURS BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF EVERY
PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION.
3. ALL BUFFERS AND TREE SAVE AREAS SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED BY FLAGGING AND/OR
FENCING PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF ANY LAND DISTURBANCE.
4. ALL CONSTRUCTION TO COMPLY WITH TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL STANDARDS.
5. APPROVAL OF THESE PLANS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE APPROVAL BY TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL FOR
ANY LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITIES WITHIN WATERS OF THE STATE AND WATERS OF THE UNITED
STATES. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO COMPLY WITH THE APPROPRIATE
REGULATORY AGENCY APPROVAL, OF ANY DISTURBANCE TO WATERS OF THE STATE AND
WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES.
6. ALL DIMENSIONS ARE TO FACE OF CURB, FACE OF BUILDING, EDGE OF PAVEMENT, CENTERLINE

TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL NOTES
1. ANY SIGNS TO BE PERMITTED THROUGH TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL.
2. ANY CONSTRUCTION TRAILERS USED ARE TO BE PERMITTED THROUGH THE TOWN OF INDIAN
TRAIL.
3. 72 HRS NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO NORTH CAROLINA 811 UTILITY NOTIFICATION CENTER BEFORE
ANY PLANNED DIGGING.
DEMOLITION/EXISTING CONDITION NOTES
1. CONTRACTOR IS FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTACTING ALL APPROPRIATE PARTIES AND
ASSURING THAT EXISTING UTILITIES ARE LOCATED PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION.
2. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLACING BARRICADES, USING FLAG MEN, ETC. AS
NECESSARY TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC.
3. ALL PAVEMENT CUTS, CONCRETE OR ASPHALT ARE TO BE PLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STANDARDS OF THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TOWN OF INDIAN
TRAIL DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
4. ANY SHORING WILL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA TRENCHING STANDARDS PART 1926,
SUBPART P OR AS AMENDED.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL ESTABLISH INITIAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES PRIOR TO DEMOLITION
OF EXISTING STRUCTURES.
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL ADHERE TO ALL LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
CONCERNING THE DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL OFFSITE OF ALL CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE DEMOLITION WORK IN AN EXPEDITIOUS AND TIMELY MANNER.
8. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT ALL AFFECTED UTILITY COMPANIES PRIOR TO BEGINNING
DEMOLITION.
STORMWATER MANAGEMENT NOTES
1. SEE DETAILS FOR STORM STRUCTURES. ANY CHANGES SHALL BE APPROVED BY ENGINEER
AND TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL.
2. ALL TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL OWNED STORM DRAINAGE PIPE TO BE CLASS III RCP UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED.
3. THE PURPOSE OF THE STORM DRAINAGE EASEMENT (SDE) IS TO PROVIDE STORM WATER
CONVEYANCE. BUILDINGS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE EASEMENT AREA. ANY OTHER OBJECTS
WHICH IMPEDE STORM WATER FLOW OR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE ARE ALSO PROHIBITED.
4. STORM DRAINAGE PIPES SHALL NOT BE CONNECTED TO BOXES AT THE CORNERS OR AT
SEVERE ANGLES.
5. ALL DRAINAGE STRUCTURES SHALL BE PRECAST CONCRETE.
6. POST -DEVELOPMENT STORMWATER RUNOFF MUST BE MANAGED SO AS TO PREVENT DAMAGE
TO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY AND INFRASTRUCTURE; SAFEGUARD PUBLIC HEALTH,
SAFETY, AND GENERAL WELFARE; AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT, INCLUDING WATER AND
AQUATIC RESOURCES. PRE -DEVELOPMENT SURFACE RUNOFF CHARACTERISTICS SHOULD BE
MAINTAINED TO THE MAXIMUM PRACTICAL EXTENT.
7. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL
APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF THE TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL UDO.
8. STORM WATER COLLECTION AND CONVEYANCE FACILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED
TO, SWALES, CHANNELS, DITCHES, HEADWALLS, STREET GUTTERS, CATCH BASINS, DROP
INLETS, STORM DRAINAGE PIPES, JUNCTION BOXES, AND CULVERTS. THESE IMPROVEMENTS
SHALL BE PROVIDED TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY, AS WELL AS PRIVATE
PROPERTIES ADJOINING PROJECT SITES OR PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY. EXISTING NATURAL
DRAINAGE CHANNELS SHALL BE IMPROVED AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE ENGINEER TO
PREVENT EROSION, FLOODING, OR OTHER HAZARD.
9. COLLECTION AND CONVEYANCE FACILITIES SHALL BE LARGE ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE THE
RUNOFF FROM THEIR ENTIRE CONTRIBUTING DRAINAGE AREAS, INCLUDING OFFSITE. OFFSITE
RUNOFF RATES SHALL BE DETERMINED BASED ON THE MAXIMUM POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT
DENSITY ALLOWED BY THE ZONING ORDINANCE.
10. MAJOR AND MINOR DRAINAGE SYSTEM DESIGN SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
RECOMMENDATIONS, GUIDELINES, PROCEDURES, AND METHODOLOGIES PRESENTED IN
CHAPTER 4 OF THE GEORGIA STORMWATER MANAGEMENT MANUAL (GSMM) AND THE
STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THIS DOCUMENT. WHEREVER THESE DOCUMENTS
OVERLAP, THE MORE STRINGENT REQUIREMENT OR GUIDELINE SHALL APPLY.
11. SEE DETAILS FOR FOR STORM STRUCTURES. ANY CHANGES SHALL BE APPROVED BY
ENGINEER AND TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL.
STORMWATER MANAGEMENT FACILITY INSPECTION &
MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT
1. A STORMWATER MANAGEMENT FACILITY INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT MUST BE
EXECUTED BY THE OWNER OF ANY DEVELOPMENT SITE THAT REQUIRES STORMWATER
MANAGEMENT FACILITIES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL UDO. A COPY OF THE
APPROVED OPERATION & MAINTENANCE PLAN MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE AGREEMENT.
EROSION CONTROL NOTES
1. ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MOST RECENT EDITION
OF NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (NCDEQ) EROSION AND
SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND DESIGN MANUAL.
2. EROSION CONTROL MEASURES WILL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. IF FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF
THE APPROVED PLAN DOES NOT PROVIDE FOR EFFECTIVE EROSION CONTROL, ADDITIONAL
EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED TO CONTROL OR TREAT
THE SEDIMENT SOURCE
3. SEDIMENT AND EROSION MEASURES AND PRACTICES TO BE INSPECTED DAILY.
4. ALL DISTURBED AREAS TO BE GRASSED AS SOON AS CONSTRUCTION PHASES PERMIT.
5. THE ESCAPE OF SEDIMENT FROM THE SITE SHALL BE PREVENTED BY THE INSTALLATION OF
EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AND PRACTICES PRIOR TO, OR CONCURRENT WITH LAND
DISTURBING ACTIVITIES.
UTILITY NOTES
1. UTILITIES MAY EXIST WHICH ARE NOT ON THE PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE
FOR CONTACTING THE UTILITY COMPANIES HAVING UTILITIES WITHIN OR ADJACENT TO THE
WORK AREA. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE THE UTILITIES FIELD LOCATED AND COORDINATE
WITH UTILITY COMPANIES TO HAVE THEM RELOCATED AND/OR ADAPTED AS NECESSARY.
2. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR HEREIN TO CAUSE THE
ADJUSTMENT/RELOCATION OF ANY UTILITY FACILITIES AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. THESE
EXISTING UTILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, ABOVE GROUND (POLES, GUY
WIRES, FIRE HYDRANTS, ETC.) AND ANY EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES (GAS, WATER,
SEWER, TELEPHONE, ETC.) WHICH WILL BE UNDER THE PAVEMENT, EITHER UNDER ACCEL, DECEL
LANES OR NEW THROUGH LANES. THESE SHALL BE ADJUSTED/RELOCATED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE WITH NCDOT STANDARDS.
CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
1 STORM DRAIN SYSTEM MATERIAL AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE
STANDARDS AND THOSE OF THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (NCDOT)
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. WHEREVER THESE DOCUMENTS OVERLAP, THE MORE STRINGENT
REQUIREMENT OR GUIDELINE SHALL APPLY.
2. ALL INLETS, JUNCTION BOXES, AND OUTLET CONTROL STRUCTURES SHALL HAVE MANHOLE
FRAMES AND LIDS FOR ACCESS.
SITE CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1 ALL DIMENSIONS ARE MEASURED FROM FACE OF CURB UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
2. CONTRACTOR TO ENSURE POSITIVE DRAINAGE TO DRAINAGE STRUCTURES ACROSS THE SITE.
3. ALL HANDICAP ACCESS RAMPS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE LATEST EDITION OF THE ADA
ACCESSIBILITY GUIDELINES.
4. ALL WORK AND MATERIALS SHALL CONFORM TO NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION (NCDOT), UNION COUNTY, AND TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL STANDARDS.
5. ALL ASPHALT CUTS SHALL BE MADE WITH A SAW WHEN PREPARING STREET SURFACES FOR
PATCHING OR WIDENING.
6. WHEN PLACING ASPHALT AGAINST EXISTING SURFACES, A STRAIGHT EDGE SHALL BE USED TO
PREVENT "HUMPING" AT THAT LOCATION.
7. STONE BASE SHALL BE PRIMED IF PAVING IS NOT COMPLETE WITHIN SEVEN (7) DAYS OF
APPROVAL.
8. SURFACES SHALL BE TACKED WHEN ASPHALT IS BEING PLACED OVER EXISTING ASPHALT
STREETS OR ADJOINING CONCRETE, STORM DRAIN AND SANITARY SEWER STRUCTURES.
9. IN ROLLING AND HILLY TERRAINS, SWEEPING OF THE STONE BASE AND/OR APPLICATION OF
TACK COAT MAY BE REQUIRED NEAR INTERSECTIONS. THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE
ESTABLISHED BY THE INSPECTOR AND BASED ON FIELD CONDITIONS.
10. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 3600 PSI AT 28 DAYS
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE CONCRETE TEST CYLINDERS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 500 OF GDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AT THE DIRECTION
OF THE PROJECT INSPECTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL EQUIPMENT AND
CYLINDER MOLDS. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT THE
CYLINDERS UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THEY TRANSPORTED FOR TESTING. AN INDEPENDENT
TESTING LAB SHALL PERFORM TESTING FOR PROJECTS AT NO COST TO THE CITY/COUNTY.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE EQUIPMENT AND PERFORM TESTS ON CONCRETE FOR A
MAXIMUM SLUMP AND AIR CONTENT AS DEFINED IN SECTION 500 OF GDOT STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS. THESE TESTS SHALL BE PERFORMED AT A FREQUENCY ESTABLISHED BY THE
INSPECTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE MATERIALS FAILING TO MEET SPECIFICATIONS.
11. ALL BACKFILL SHALL BE NON -PLASTIC IN NATURE , FREE FROM ROOTS, VEGETATIVE MATTER,
WASTE, CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL OR OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL. SAID MATERIAL
SHALL BE CAPABLE OF BEING COMPACTED BY MECHANICAL MEANS AND THE MATERIAL SHALL
HAVE NO TENDENCY TO FLOW OR BEHAVE IN A PLASTIC MANNER UNDER THE TAMPING BLOWS
OR PROOF ROLLING.
12. MATERIALS DEEMED BY THE INSPECTOR AS UNSUITABLE FOR BACKFILL PURPOSES SHALL BE
REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH SELECT BACKFILL MATERIAL.
13. THE FILL AROUND ALL PIPE SHALL BE PLACED IN LAYERS NOT TO EXCEED SIX (6) INCHES AND
EACH LAYER SHALL BE COMPACTED THOROUGHLY.
14. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL WATER BE PERMITTED TO RISE IN UNBACKFILLED
TRENCHES AFTER THE PIPE HAS BEEN PLACED.
15. COMPACTION REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE ATTAINED BY THE USE OF MECHANICAL COMPACTION
METHODS. EACH SIX (6) INCH LAYER OF BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED LOOSE AND THOROUGHLY
COMPACTED INTO PLACE.
16. STRAIGHT FORMS SHALL NOT BE USED FOR FORMING CURB AND GUTTER IN CURVES.
17. ALL EXCESS CONCRETE ON THE FRONT EDGE (LIP) OF GUTTER SHALL BE REMOVED WHEN
CURB AND GUTTER POURED WITH A MACHINE.
18. ALL SUBGRADE SHALL BE COMPACTED TO 100% OF THE MAXIMUM DENSITY OBTAIBALE WITH
THE STANDARD PROCTOR TEST TO A DEPTH OF EIGHT (8) INCHES, AND DENSITY OF 95%
STANDARD PROCTOR FROM DEPTHS GREATER THAN EIGHT (8) INCHES UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED. THE DEVELOPER SHALL PERFORM ALL TESTS AT NO COST TO THE CITY.
19. A CANVAS COVER OR OTHER SUITABLE COVER SHALL BE REQUIRED FOR TRANSPORTING
PLANT MIX ASPHALT DURING COOL WEATHER WHEN THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE
PRESENT:
A. AIR TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 60°F.
B. LENGTH OF HAUL FROM PLANT TO JOB IS GREATER THAN FIVE (5) MILES.
C. OTHER OCCASIONS AT THE INSPECTOR'S DISCRETION WHEN A COMBINATION OF
FACTORS INDICATES THAT MATERIAL COULD BE COVERED IN ORDER TO ASSURE PROPER
