Explain the purpose of the proposed project: * The 762 Zone Water Main Project is one of numerous projects to meet the needs of Union County in general and specifically to support the implementation of the new Yadkin River Water Treatment Plant (YRWTP). One of these projects, identified as YAD-M-03, the 762 Zone YRWTP Transmission Main, consists of three components. The first component is approximately 41,000 linear feet (LF) of 24-inch transmission main to connect the 762 Zone High Service Pump Station at the new Yadkin River Water Plant (YRWTP) to an existing 16-inch transmission main along Highway US-74 near Marshville. Secondly, a dedicated Finished Water Pump Station and associated finished water site piping is proposed within the boundaries of the YRWTP site to supply the transmission main. The inclusion of a dedicated on -site surge tank may also be required on the YRWTP site. The third component of the project addresses achieving an interim source of supply to the 762 Pressure Zone until the YRWTP is constructed and operational. 4i.
