Inspection Summary:
Certainteed Corporaton manufactures shingles. The company has recently recieved approved erosion control plans to build a
seperate building where the fiberglass sheeting used to make the shingles will be manufactured. The shingle manufacturing
processes are all performed inside the facility.
At the front and rear of the facility there are several asphalt tanks. Heated asphalt is stored in the tanks. There are additional
tanks at the rear of the facility that contain oil. There is a railyard in this area as well. Certainteed has had to register as an
oil terminal because of the amount of oil stored/used onsite.
Packaged product is stored outsidearound the western side of the facility. Pallets, some scrap metal, and ground roofing
product. The ground roofing product was stockpiled away from drop inlets and with concrete containment walls around three
sides. This material is recyled and used onsite.
All ashpahlt and oil tanks have secondary containment.
The SWPPP was reviewed during the inspection. The responsible party should make sure the SWPPP is reviewed annually.
Even if there are no changes, the date can be updated on the cover.
There were no issues noted during the inspection. The facility appears to be well maintained, there were no spills or
evidence of residue in the areas observed outside.
