Brenntag Charlotte
Return #1336
Mecklenburg County
We received your application for an NPDES discharge permit on July 25, 2022. OnAugust 2, 2022,
Jeffrey Chandler with the Mooresville Regional Office conducted a site visit to determine whether
the facility was compliant with coverage under Stormwater General Permit NCG080000.
The industrial activities occurring onsite include diluting or repackaging various chemicals
(solvents, acids, bases) and for further distribution. The site also has diesel emission fluid via rail
car or tanker truck. A previous inspection conducted on October 19w, 2021, ended with a
recommendation that this site is best suited for an individual permit. Therefore, it has been .
concluded that the industrial activity of this facility does not qualify for coverage under General
Permit NCG080000: Transit and Transportation.
With this letter, your application is being returned to you. To properly secure adequate stormwater
permit coverage, your next permitting step is for you to apply for an Individual Industrial
Stormwater Permit. This type of permit coverage can best be tailored to an industrial operation
such as Brenntag Charlotte.
Please visit our website at deq.nc.gov/SW-industrial for more information on the application for an
Individual Industrial Stormwater Permit, guidance, and related documents. Please respond to this
correspondence by submitting an individual stormwater permit application to this office within 90
days for the date of this letter.
Please contact Brianna Young, the Stormwater Individual Permit Coordinator, at 919-707-3647 or
via email at Brianna.Young(@ncdenr.gov for further guidance concerning individual permits.
