STORMWATER NARRATIVE
This submittal is for a minor modification to Codington Elementary School Permit (SW8
950401). Please note this project has prior authorization to the 2008 SW rules and regulations.
The project site for Codington Elementary School is located approximately 2.10 miles southeast
from the intersection of Carolina Beach Road (US 421) and Shipyard Boulevard (US 117). The
project site is on the left off Orchid Drive from Carolina Beach Road.
This minor modification is to include the removal of 282 sf of existing sidewalk impervious area
and the addition of 427 sf of new sidewalk and 900 sf of new building impervious area. There
will be no changes to overall impervious area under the Codington Elementary School
Stormwater permit (SW8 950401).
Additionally, an existing 15" storm drain pipe will be removed and a new 15" storm drain pipe
will be incorporated into the existing network surrounding the new storage building area. There
will be no changes to drainage areas.
Below is a summary of the changes included in the proposed minor modification:
• Removal of 282 sf existing sidewalk.
• Addition of 427 sf new sidewalk and 900 sf new building resulting in net increase of
1,045 sf impervious areawhich will be covered under previously permitted future
impervious area.
• Remove existing 15" RCP storm drain pipe and replace with new 15" RCP storm drain
pipe to connect to existing network surrounding new storage building area. A shallow
swale will be graded between the storage building and an existing sidewalk to ensure
positive drainage.
