SANITARY SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE ANNUAL REPORT (2021-2022)
I. General Information
Person in Charge/Contact: Damon Kempski, Town Manager; Robert Bailey, ORC, Lake
Waccamaw Collection System. 910-646-3700.
II. Description of System
Class II Collection System consisting of both gravity lines and force main lines and 11 Lift Stations
monitored/inspected by Town Staff on a daily basis.
III. Performance
During the fiscal year 2021-2022, the System transmitted an average of 168,154 gallons per day of
wastewater to the Treatment Plant.
The Town reported two sanitary sewer overflows during the year:
1) 9/21/2021— Manhole at Dale's Seafood released approximately 70 gallons. This spill was the
result of pump failure in one of the Town's lift stations.
2) 12/9/2021— Dupree Landing Road between Wooded Acres Rd. and Clyde Collier Rd. This spill
released approximately 4500 gallons and was the result of pipe failure.
All spills were dealt with by Town staff and caused no negative environmental impacts.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT PEFORMANCE ANNUAL REPORT (2021-2022)
I. General lnformation

II. Description of Treatment Process
Class II, 0.4 MGD Activated Sludge Wastewater Treatment with a bar screen, aeration basin,
clarifier, two settling ponds, and two digesters for Sludge that is to be used in a compost process.
III. Performance
Test Summary of the System Performance for the period July 2021 — June 2022:
June 2022- Floating aerator in aeration basin was found non operational one morning by
employees. Motor was rebuilt and spare motor was used during that time. Motor in polishing pond
became non operational and also had to be rebuilt. A spare motor was used in this pond as well.
Chlorine contact chamber was dredged to remove solids that had settled out.

This report is being made available to system users by printing same in The News Reporter and
posting on the Town's website at www.lakewaccamawnc.gov. Additional information or a copy of
this report can be obtained by contacting the Town Hall at 910-646-3700.
