Thank you, Jeremiah Jeremiah Dow Project Manager – Eastern Region Division of Mitigation Services 217 West Jones St. Raleigh, NC 27603 Cell: 919-218-0226 1 Slingshot Stream & Wetland Mitigation Site IRT Site Visit: 7-26-2022 1 of 1 Inter-Agency Monitoring Year 2 Site Visit Notes Upon review and approval of the Year 2 (2021) Monitoring Report, an on-site meeting with regulatory agencies and DMS staff was conducted on July 26, 2022. Below is a list of attendees and general site visit notes. Attendees: USACE: - Kim Browning NC WRC: Olivia Munzer NC DMS: - Melanie Allen - Jeremiah Dow NC DWR: - Erin Davis Restoration Systems: - Worth Creech Axiom Environmental - Grant Lewis - Phillip Perkinson Site Visit Notes: - Overall, the project was well received by the IRT - Continued invasive species treatments are recommended to control Chinese privet, rose, kudzu, and tree of heaven. The IRT recommends treatment of tree of heaven located outside the easement boundaries (if possible) to control seed source entering the Site. - The IRT recommended moving ground water gauge 10 to the downstream wetland rehabilitation area and labeling it groundwater gauge 10A (see attached figure for the proposed location of GW 10A). - Restoration Systems is requesting to offset the loss of wetland credit from approximately 0.010 acre of wetland reestablishment (at groundwater gauge 10) by documenting jurisdictional wetland development in non-credit generating areas of the Site. Additional wetland areas are depicted in purple on the attached figure F-1. Additional soil borings and vegetation transects will be required to document wetlands in these areas. Wetland credit is not being requested from these areas; however, these areas are to replace approximately 0.010 acres of wetland reestablishment around groundwater gauge 10. - The IRT recommended documenting jurisdiction in wetland reestablishment and wetland rehabilitation areas that do not have gauges and/or vegetation plots. Documentation should include soil boring logs and vegetation transects. - Supplemental planting of the abandoned haul road is recommended with species other than American sycamore. The haul road is located on elevated areas along the margins of the conservation easement between vegetation plot 7 and vegetation plot 9. ^_ 8 5 7 9 6 4 3 2 1 11 10 FIGU R E Dra wn b y: Da te: Sca le : Pro jec t N o.: KRJ DEC 2021 1:2200 18-013 Pre pa red fo r: SITEWETLAND SOVERVIEW F-1 ³ 0 500 1,00 0250Feet Tit le: Pro jec t: R oc ki ng h am C o u nty, N C SL ING SHO T CREE KSTREAM ANDWETLANDMITIGATION S IT E U T-1 U T-2 Leg en d Sli ngshot Cr eek E asement = 11.6 ac Str eam Rest or ati on Str eam Enhan ce ment (Level I) Str eam Enhan ce ment (Level II ) Str eam Pr eser vati on No C red it - Cr ossing Wetl and Reesta blishm ent Wetl and Rehabi lit ati on Addit ional S it e We tla nds (0.52 acr es) - Del ineat ed 2021 Gr oundwat er Gaug es M eeti ng S uccess Cr it eri a Gr oundwat er Gaug es Not M eet ing Success C ri ter ia ^_Rain Gaug e/ Soil Temp erat ure Logger UT-3 UT-4SlingshotCreek #*#*^_!.!.1223748951610X S -8 XS-3X S -2XS-5XS-4XS-6XS-1XS-7XS-4XS-2XS-3XS-2XS-18579643211110X S -1 FIGUREDrawn by:Date:Scale:Project No.:KRJJAN 20221:200018-013Prepared for:CURRENTCONDITIONSPLAN VIEW2³0 500 1,000250FeetTitle:Project:Rockingham County, NCSLINGSHOT CREEKSTREAM ANDWETLANDMITIGATION SITEUT-1U T-2LegendSlingshot Creek Easement = 11.6 acStream RestorationStream Enhancement (Level I)Stream Enhancement (Level II)Stream PreservationNo Credit - CrossingWetland ReestablishmentWetland RehabilitationCVS Plots Meeting Success Criteria50m x 2m Vegetation Transects Meeting Success Criteria50m x 2m Vegetation Transects Not Meeting Success CriteriaCross-Sections2021 Invasive Treatment AreasGroundwater Gauges Meeting Success CriteriaGroundwater Gauges Not Meeting Success Criteria#*Flow Gauge^_Rain Gauge/ Soil Temperature Logger!.Benthic Sampling StationsUT-3UT-4SlingshotCreekMove GW 10 todownstream wetlandrehabilitation area andlabel it GW 10A.Add containerized plantingsto area of haul road.
