Describe the existing land use or condition of the site at the time of this application: * It is a virgin lot (lot # 19) in a residential developed community (The Highlands at Lake Norman). Residential, undeveloped, etc. 6. Property Size 1.04 Acre Acres 7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or why it is necessary): - Out of 332 ft shoreline, approx. 100 ft (at the sandy beach area) will need a riprap, while the remaining part of the shoreline is naturally rocky, and it doesn't need any kind of riprap. - The most of buffer area is covered with Kudzu that will be cleared, while large trees will be kept as per the NCDEQ buffer rules, and the buffer will be planted with native trees and shrubs as per appendix 15 (Approved Plants for use in buffers). - Any stairs in the buffer area will be wooden stairs, including the stair at the dock. - No retaining walls will be installed in the buffer area. - No concrete works will take place in buffer area, including any hard landscaping (walkways, steps, .. etc.). - No dredging required for the proposed dock. - No filling involved in the buffer area. 8. How will the work be done? * From Land From Water 9. Total amount of disturbance below the normal pool lake level/ normal water level: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) Around 500 Sq Ft at the sandy beach including the toe trench of the riprap square feet 10. Total amount of disturbance above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet land- ward: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) Around 10,000 Sq Ft including the clearing area of the Kudzu. square feet 11. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet landward to be impacted:* (number of trees, for instance) Buffer will be planted with native Trees (around 10-12 trees) especially at the upper 20 ft of the buffer, along with shrubs in the remaining areas of the buffer- Trees and shrubs will be according to Appendix 15 (Approved Plants for use in Water Quality Buffers).
