TO WHOM IT MAC'CONCERN.
All interested parties are notified that the Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District has received an
I application from North Carolina Department of Transportation(NCDOT), for a replacement
bridge to be constructed across navigable waters of the United States.
WATERWAY AND LOCATION. 6.0 miles above the mouth of North River, in Carteret
County.,NC.
CHARACTER OF WORK: NCDOT proposes to replace the existing two-lane US 70 bridge
'i over North River,with a new two-lane highway bridge on a new alignment immediately to the
north of the existing structure. The applicant is also requesting a waiver of a bridge permit under
Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations, Section 115.70;Advance approval for bridges. Advance
approval waterways are those that are navigable in law,but not actually navigated by other than
small boats. The Commandant of the Coast Guard has given advance approval to the
construction or repair of bridges across such waterways.
