RE: Letter of Refinement, CAMA Major Permit No. 184-88, Currituck/Knotts Island Ferry Terminal,
Currituck County.
L1ear Mr. Winslow:
This letter is in response to a request elated July 14, 2014, including nine attached workplan drawings darted June
26, 2013, submitted by JKF Architecture on behalf of the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDGT). The
request is to authorize the construction of a new welcome center with additional parking areas at the
Currituck/Knotts Island Ferry Terminal. The request indicates that an existing building would be demolished
and that a new welcome center would be constructed. Additionally, the request indicates that parking areas,
traffic modifications, a new ticket booth, and supporting infrastructure would be constructed in conjunction with
the new welcome center.
Please be advised that through this Lett?r of Refintment, the N.C. Division of Coastal Management(DCM)
conveys its determination that the above referenced request is consistent with existing State rules and
regulations and is in keeping with the original purpose and intent of CAMA Major Permit No. 184-88, This
letter shall be attached to the original of LAMA Major Permit No. 184-88 and all documents shall be readily
available on site when a DCM representative inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and
stipulations of the active permit remain in force unless altered herein.
