III. Certification Statement:
I S{ 4phent t i j certify to the best of my knowledge that the addition of
the volume oiwastewater to bep&mitted in this project has been evaluated along the route to the receiving
wastewater treatment facility and that the flow from this project is not anticipated to cause any capacity
related sanitary sewer overflows or overburden any downstream pump station en route to the receiving
treatment plant under normal circumstances, given the implementation of the planned improvements
identified in the planning assessment where applicable. This analysis has been performed in accordance
with local established policies and procedures using the best available data. This certification applies to
those items listed above in Sections I and II plus all attached planning assessment addendums for which I

PROJECT NARRATIVE
Tanglewood
May 10, 2022
NC Dept of Environmental Quality
JUL 14 2022
Raleigh Regional Office
The Tanglewood project involves the construction of a new residential development consisting
of 181 townhomes, an amenity center, and the associated public streets and infrastructure. The
site is located on the west side of Page Road, south of its intersection with Globe Rd within the
City limits for the City of Durham in Durham County.
Based on the 2T rules, the anticipated design sewage flow has been calculated to be 65,160
gallons/day (181 townhomes x 3 bedrooms x 120 gpd/bedroom) for the townhomes. In addition,
the sewer flow from the swimming pool / bathhouse is calculated to be 1,000 gallons/day (10
gal/person x 100 people). So, the total sewer flow for this project is 66,160 gallons/day.
There is an existing public gravity main (owned and maintained by Durham County) on the west
side of the site in the Bethpage Phase 3 project. The permit number for this sewer system is
WQ0038667. The Tanglewood project will connect to the existing gravity system in Sounding
Lane and extend to the east across the property to the south of the project site that is owned by
the Islamic Association of Raleigh (IAR) before heading north onto the project site. The gravity
outfall on the IAR site will be located along the alignment of a previously approved force main
(permit WQ0040873 for the TMC Page Road project). The force main for the TMC project will
be shortened to tie to the proposed outfall for the Tanglewood project rather than extend to the
Bethpage Phase 3 project as approved. The associated permit for TMC will be modified
accordingly.
For the Tanglewood project, the proposed improvements include the construction of
approximately 5,484 ft of new 8" public gravity sewer main and the services for each lot. The
proposed mains will be located either in City of Durham street public right-of-way or Durham
County sanitary sewer easements and will eventually be part of Durham County's public sewer
system.
