Update for Permit Application: Pilot Beaver Dam Analog Restoration of an Unnamed Tributary
of Canoe Creek
August 29, 2022
Maintenance Plan for Pilot BDA Project:
Upkeep and repairs to the Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) will occur as needed for the first
year of the project.
After first year further maintenance will cease unless significant signs of beaver take
place around the BDAs without colonization by beaver. Then BDAs will be maintained if
needed for an additional six months
Primary BDAs will be the first priority and secondaries as deemed necessary. The work
will be done in exactly the same way as construction and if repaired will be repaired to its
original demotions.
Only natural materials will be used from on site, but not within the riparian buffers.
After a year if colonization by beavers is unsuccessful structures will be left in place to
degrade naturally or removed if needed.
If colonization by beavers occurs during the first year of the project, maintenance would
be extremely rare.
