In regards to your request for additional information email below, please see our response: 1. It appears that the greenway proposed in Impacts #1 and #4 could be redesigned or reconfigured to further avoid and minimize wetlands impacts by moving the greenway closer to the proposed retaining walls. For Impact #1, there appears to be a strip of wetlands between the proposed retaining wall and the proposed impervious surface of the greenway. Please revise the plans to minimize the impacts or provide a detailed explanation of why this plan for the activity cannot be practically accomplished, reduced or reconfigured to better minimize disturbance to the wetlands. [15A NCAC 02H .0506(b)(1)] Per the project engineer, due to topography on site, we're having to propose a very tall wall in close proximity to the greenway (15'-18' tall in some areas). Wetland impact areas would be about same the if we shifted the greenway trail east and closer to the wall so we don't reduce and minimize much by doing so. By keeping it the way it is, the natural buffer between the wall and the trail provides a safer greenway experience for pedestrians, bicyclists, etc. to navigate through. Please let me know if this information will suffice or if you will need anything else.
