Arthur Lane Ditch
8/8/2022
Summary
Current property owners on the east side of Arthur Lane have raised concerns about existing flooding issues due to the
properties upstream. Currently there is an existing cross -pipe which outlets into a JS on the east side of Arthur Lane.
The existing stream runs in the front yard of first two houses and behind the remaining houses on Arthur Lane.
Under NCDOT Project R-5709, NC-211 will be realigned and the post -construction area will be 75.4 acres (compared to
pre -construction area of 67.93 ac). Due to the increase in the pre -post construction area and to relieve the flooding
conditions, a ditch relocation will be required along Arthur Lane from NC 211 to a pond downstream. The proposed
ditch will be 5' base ditch with Class I Rip -rap and will be located along the east side of Arthur Lane. The project ditch
will take water away from stream SJ and wetlands WAA and WAB (see the length and area of impacts below).
Impacts to JS/Wetlands
Stream SJ — 775 ft
Wetland WAA — 0.15 ac
Wetland WAB — 0.12 ac
295' of Stream SJ will be improved to 5' Base ditch with Cl I Rip -Rap (near the end of Arthur Lane)
