Dear Mr. McNally:
The Division of Coastal Management (DCM) received a copy of a US Army Corps of Engineers Public
Notice (Corps Action ID# 2007-1700-016). Based on the description of the proposed project contained in
the Corps' Public Notice, the project may require consistency review from the Division of Coastal
Management before the project may be implemented. Please be aware that if any portion of your
proposed project occurs within an Area of Environmental Concern (AEC) and qualifies as development
(pursuant to Section § ll3A-118 of the Coastal Area Management Act) you will then need to apply for a
LAMA permit instead of making a consistency submission.
Attached to this letter is a brochure that provides guidance on complying with the consistency
certification process. Additionally, please visit DCM's the consistency webpage located at:
http://wvwv.nccoastalmanagement.net/Permits/consist htm. Since this letter and attached brochure are a
synopsis of the consistency process you may have numerous questions. Please do not hesitate to contact
me at 252-808-2808 for additional guidance on complying with the requirements of the consistency
certification process. I look forward to working with you on this proposed project. Thank you for your
consideration of the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.
Sincerely,
J~-~---
