And I do have the 401 application. As discussed via the phone, given that this is an industrial/commercial site the question that needs to be answer is what is the plan for this property and if the access road is needed. There already appears to be access from Salisbury Hwy. This might be better suited as a NW 39??? Thanks, Louis Gordon From: Johnson, Alan [mailto:alan.johnson@ncdenr.gov] Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2014 1:28 PM To: louis@gordoniron.com<mailto:louis@gordoniron.com> Subject: 401 application We received the application and I will try to get out and take a quick look at the stream channel next week. It is stated that the avg width of the channel is 10 ft. The proposed by is approximately 13 ft (W) by 8.5 ft (H). When placing pipes in the stream we request that pipes be sized to pass the base stream flow of the channel, which is usually smaller than the channel width. Additional culverts are used to pass storm flows. Also the culvert/pipe must be buried. Please see the conditions of the attached general certification. Also, given that this is in an industrial area, what is the purpose of the road crossing? Are there any plans for any construction in the relatively near future? Thank you Alan J. 2
