The subject property was recently purchased, and the new owners were not informed of the existence of the SFR system and associated permit by their realtor. The system components, including the septic tank, and effluent pipe must be located, and a disinfection component must be installed. Sampling must be performed on an annual basis if the system discharges. General NPDES Permit No. NCG550000, effective November 1, 2020, Part I, Section B. (1) states that all SFR systems shall now include a disinfection component (either chlorination or UV). This component must be installed for the system to be compliant with Permit NCG550542.
