I ♦ . - � nom; -- r' 0 EROSION 11A N CONTROL Specification Sheet- EA400 and EA680 Earth Anchors DESCRIPTION The Tensar North American Green Earth Anchors EA400 and EA680 shall be a cast anchor with a chiseled tip. The anchor shall be an aluminum anchor with tendon, and shall have a capacity of 300 Ibs and 1100 Ibs, for the EA400 and EA680 respectively. The anchors shall conform to the properties listed herein. ANCHOR CAPACITIES The pullout capacities were determined using average soil conditions (class S), which is intended to be a guideline for anchor selection. To ensure proper selection, it is recommended to determine the loading criteria then allow for a safety factor while accommodating changing moisture conditions. Once an anchor has been selected, a pullout test is recommended to assure proper selection for the site specific conditions. Anchor pullout capacity is dependent on various items such as soil type, moisture, and density. Maximum pullout capacity is obtained when installed perpendicular with the direction of the securing cable. Insert the drive rod into the assembly's anchor head then utilize either a sledge hammer or vibratory hammer to drive the anchor to the proper depth. After the proper anchor depth is achieved, retract the drive rod. 2. Next, lock the anchor assembly by pulling the cable upwards until the anchor head rotates as signaled by sudden resistance to pulling. Secure the faceplate by method of choice, crimp the copper ferrule or install fastening device. If desired, cut the remaining cable assembly to desired length. Setting Large Anchors - Larger anchors will require more force to set the anchor. This can be achieved through using simple mechanical equipment for greater leverage, such as a fulcrum, manual or hydraulic jack, winch or post puller. Determine from approved construction documents, specification, or project engineer the elevation(s) at which the coir logs are to be placed. Create a trench to the dimensions and within ± 1 inch of the elevation(s) specified. The trench should be equal to a minimum of 1/3 the diameter of the coir log. 2. When specified, prepare seed bed upslope of coir log trench, apply seed and cover with specified rolled erosion control products (RECPs) per product manufacturer's installation guide ensuring the seed and RECP are in place throughout the coir log trench. 3. Place coir logs in trenches at specified elevation(s). Use a coupling system when specified to ensure there are no gaps or voids between adjacent coir logs. Install anchoring systems to secure the coir logs in the appropriate configuration (Fig. 4 -8), or to dimensions as indicated by approved construction documents. 5b. Stagger hardwood stakes at 2 ft on center on each side of the coir log. Drive the stakes into the ground until the top of the stake is even with the coir log. Notch or drill holes through the hardwood stake. Use specified rope or lashing to alternately lash stakes by tying a knot in the rope to secure the system.
