ACCESS POINTS AND STABILIZED RIGHT-OF-WAY ACCESS ROUTES, WHENEVER
POSSIBLE. EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE INDICATED HEREIN FOR PERMITTING
USE ONLY BY THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL
RESOURCES (NCDENR) LAND QUALITY SECTION. THE INITIA',,L PROJECT DURATION IS
ANTICIPATED TO BE FOUR WEEKS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE EROSION CONTROL

EROSION CONTROL GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND STATE
STANDARDS - SPECIFICALLY THE NQ EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL MANUAL, AND ORDINANCES.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DILIGENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL EROSION CONTROL BMPS
AND STRUCTURES TO ENSURE DEVICES ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY TO MINIMIZE EROSION AND
SEDIMENT TRANSFER. CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AFTER
EVERY RAIN EVENT EXCEEDING 1/2" AND AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
MAINTAIN CLOSE CONTACT WITH INSPECTOR SO THAT PERIODIC INSPECTIONS CAN BE
CONDUCTED AT APPROPRIATE STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION.
3. THE TOTAL ANTICIPATED DENUDED AREA IS 23.4± ACRES.
DUE TO THE LINEAR NATURE OF THE PROJECT AND SITE UNKNOWNS, THE TOTAL PERMITTED
ACREAGE OF DISTURBANCE IS 23.4 ACRES.
4. THE TOTAL LENGTH OF THE PROJECT IS APPROXIMATELY 14,735 LINEAR FEET (2.80 MILES).
5. THE SOIL CLASSIFICATION VARIES.
6. FINAL LOCATION OF WATER BARS, SILT FENCE, WATTLES, CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCES, ETC.
SHALL BE ADJUSTED IN THE FIELD BY CONTRACTOR BASED ON SITE CONDITIONS AND
INSPECTOR'S RECOMMENDATIONS.
7. ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES MAY BE REQUIRED DUE TO FIELD CONDITIONS OR AS
DIRECTED BY THE INSPECTOR INCLUDING THE USE OF MATTING ON ALL DISTURBED AREAS IF
WET CONDITIONS ARE PRESENT.
8. THE SITE SHALL BE GRADED DURING CONSTRUCTION TO ALLOW ALL RUNOFF TO DRAIN TO
SEDIMENT CONTROL FEATURES.
9. STABILIZATION IS THE BEST FORM OF EROSION CONTROL. TEMPORARY SEEDING IS NECESSARY
TO ACHIEVE EROSION CONTROL ON LARGE DENUDED AREAS AND ESPECIALLY WHEN
SPECIFICALLY REQUIRED AS PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE INDICATED ON THE
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS.
10. PER GENERAL PERMIT NCGO10000, ALL PERIMETER DIKES, SWALES, DITCHES, PERIMETER
SLOPES AND ALL SLOPES STEEPER THAN 3:1 SHALL BE PROVIDED TEMPORARY OR
PERMANENT STABILIZATION WITH GROUND COVER AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE BUT IN ANY
EVENT WITHIN 7 CALENDAR DAYS FROM THE LAST LAND-DISTURBING ACTIVITY. ALL OTHER
DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE PROVIDED TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT STABILIZATION WITH
GROUND COVER AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE BUT IN ANY EVENT WITHIN 14 CALENDAR DAYS
FROM THE LAST LAND-DISTURBING ACTIVITY. REFER TO TABLE 1) GROUND STABILIZATION.
11. THE ANGLE FOR GRADED SLOPES AND FILLS SHALL BE NO GREATER THAN THE ANGLE THAT
CAN BE RETAINED BY VEGETATIVE COVER OR OTHER ADEQUATE EROSION-CONTROL DEVICES
OR STRUCTURES. IN ANY EVENT, SLOPES LEFT EXPOSED WILL, WITHIN 21 CALENDAR DAYS OF
COMPLETION OF ANY PHASE OF GRADING, BE PLANTED OR OTHERWISE PROVIDED WITH
TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT GROUND COVER, DEVICES, OR STRUCTURES SUFFICIENT TO
RESTRAIN EROSION.
12. ALL MATERIALS REQUIRED CONSTRUCTION OF SEDIMENTATION AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES,
SHALL BE AVAILABLE ON SITE BEFORE ANY LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY IS BEGUN.
14. STAGING AREAS AND MATERIAL STOCKPILES FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE ENCOMPASSED -BY
SILT FENCE EXCEPT FOR THE POINTS OF ACCESS TO THE STOCKPILE AREA.
15. THIS PROJECT DOES NOT IMPACT TROUT WATERS.
16. EXISTING ACCESS TO BE IMPROVED WILL BE STABILIZED WITH GRAVEL AND/OR APPROPRIATE
COVER. FIELD ADJUSTMENT WITH ADJACENT LANDOWNERS MAY BE NECESSARY.

2. CONTACT THE STATE INSPECTOR
(704-663-1699) TO SCHEDULE AN ON-SITE
PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS
EROSION CONTROL MEASURES.
3. INSTALL SILT FENCE, SILT FENCE STONE
OUTLETS, WATTLES AND CONSTRUCTION
ENTRANCES AS SHOWN ON PLANS, PRIOR TO
ANY SITE DISTURBANCE ACTIVITIES (CLEARING,
GRUBBING, GRADING, OR EXCAVATION).
4. CONTACT THE INSPECTOR (704-663-1699)
FOR AN ON-SITE INSPECTION OF THE
INSTALLED SILT FENCE.
5. AS ACCESS PROGRESSES ALOR G LORGER
ROUTES, INSTALL WATER BARS AS INDICAT
ON THE PLANS. I
6. INSPECT ALL EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AT
WEEKLY INTERVALS AND AFTER EVERY
RAINFALL EXCEEDING 1/2" TO VERIFY THAT
THEY ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. ANY
ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT SHALL BE REMOVED
AND PLACED IN A DESIGNATED SPOIL
DISPOSAL AREA APPROVED BY THE INSPECTOR.
CONDUCT PERIODIC INSPECTIONS OF ALL
EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROLS AND
MAKE ANY REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS
NECESSARY TO ASSURE CONTINUED EFFECTIVE
OPERATION OF EACH DEVICE.
7. BEGIN CLEARING, GRUBBING, AND CRANE PAD
GRADING OF THE POLE/TOWER SITES.
8. NOTE: IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT EACH ACCESS
AREA WILL BE ACCESSED FOUR (4) TIMES
DURING CONSTRUCTION, ALL DISTURBED AREAS
SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED AFTER EACH
ACCESS. TEMPORARY SEEDING FIRST THREE
(3) AND PERMANENT SEEDING WHEN PROJECT
IS COMPLETE.
9. CONTRACTOR TO REMOVE ALL EROSION
CONTROL MEASURES AFTER SITES ARE
STABILIZED AND APPROVAL IS GIVEN BY THE
INSPECTOR.
