The boat launch will be a series of terraces and steps built into the riverbank. The upland development will include a gravel parking lot with 13 delineated parking spaces and a 60'- diameter turnaround area that will allow users to load and unload their small boats close to the launch facility. The project area will be accessed by a 20' -wide gravel driveway to be constructed on the property. The area is currently accessed by a narrow single -lane gravel road within the railroad ROW. An agreement has been made with the railroad to install guardrail and construct the new entrance drive. Construction equipment will include excavator, bulldozer, and dump truck. The terraces for launching the small boats will be constructed of 8x8 lumbers and packed gravel. The steps will be made of wood and composite decking. 118 Hamby Road, Suite 144, Dobson, NC 27017 Phone: (336) 401- 8235Fax: (336) 401 -8236 Federal Tax ID: 56 -60003 41 Dear North Carolina Wildlife Commission: Surry County Parks and Recreation would like to provide permission to apply for the permits necessary to build the Burch Station Canoe Access on our behalf.
