Mulberry Rd) sewer line break Date:Wednesday, August 3, 2022 5:27:23 PM Attachments:image001.png Hi Hannah, At the subject bridge (formerly B-5540), the contractor exposed, and I assume broke, a sewer force line, which was a 1 ½ inch lateral service, at approximately 2:55 pm today. The clearing contractor was removing a stump in high ground and apparently when they pulled it out 16 feet of line was exposed. The Town of Shallotte arrived on site at approximately 3:16 pm. They contained it as much as they could, and dug a pit in high ground for containment, but some sewage made its way to the creek. A pump truck on site removed some of the sewage that was lost. Someone from the Town of Shallotte confirmed that he is going to report this to DEQ. The assistant resident engineer said that he understands that the town will report the amount of sewage as a 1 ½ inch line that was open for 25 minutes – but this is the total loss, and doesn’t represent what made it to the creek. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require additional information. If I need to report this to any other entity, please let me know.
