An abundance of blue and beige rubber stoppers had escaped through the wastewater system into the lift station. West was immediately notified and an investigation was started. West found the issue causing the stopper problem. West changed the drain system to better catch the stoppers and also increased the PM plan on the drains. There have been issues since the corrective actions. The process is referred to as a Johannesburg process because it incorporates a pre-anoxic zone for reduction of nitrate in the return activated sludge. As a process enhancement, step feed capability is provided. When the influent wastewater flows are high, portions of the influent flow can be diverted around the anaerobic and anoxic zones directly to the aeration basin, which will help promote reliable operation of the anaerobic zones and reduce the chances of washing out the solids during storm events. The Johannesburg process is designed to provide BOD removal, phosphorus removal, full nitrification and denitrification. To ensure that denitrification requirements are met, particularly during the winter months denitrification filters have been provided. At the end of 2019, a Suez Low Temperature Dryer was installed at the end of our belt press process. The dryer is capable of producing class A biosolids. 3.21 Indicate the dates the data were submitted to your NPDES permitting authority and provide a summary of the results. 2018 Jan.
