On July 26, 2022, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Caudle conducted a
compliance evaluation inspection. Brent Collins and David Ackley of EMA Resources, Inc.
were present during the entire inspection. The most recent application activities and
storage areas were reviewed. A separate in -office review of residuals analysis was
completed. This review reflected compliance with the subject permit.

Inspection Summary:
On July 26, 2022, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Caudle conducted a compliance evaluation inspection. Brent
Collins and David Ackley of EMA Resources, Inc. were present during the entire inspection. The most recent application
activities and storage areas were reviewed. A separate in -office review of residuals analysis was completed. This review
reflected compliance with the subject permit.
Residuals were being hauled from the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority John F. Kime WTP. The residuals are a
ferric sludge that is run through a belt press and stored on an uncovered concrete pad. There is three to six months of
storage at the plant. A composite grab sample for nutrients and metals is collected quarterly from the residuals stockpiled
on the concrete pad. Pathogen and vector reduction is not required for WTP residuals. The WTP was not inspected.
Residuals were applied on July 25, but overnight rain prevented activity at the time of inspection. Residuals were applied witl-
two side spreaders at approximately 20 cubic yards/acre. Residuals were being applied on fescue pasture (35.883028,
-79.753722). All buffers were appropriate and clearly marked. The residual staging area was within the application area. The
field being applied on is being transferred from WQ0004825 to WQ0001648 and a Land Owner Agreement was signed. Class
A material has been applied on this farm in the past.
