B. Setzer, P.E. Division Engineer North Carolina Department of Transportation 253 Webster Road Sylva, North Carolina 28779 7(16 215 (JOlJS 2459 7322 Subject: Permit Application for Proposed Road Improvements DWQ Project No. 20070261 NCSR 1260-Dogwood and ~~'ildcat Drives Haywood County Dear Mr. Setzer: The Division of Water Quality has reviewed your submittal fora 401 Water Quality Certification for the subject project. Review of your application revealed it was lacking necessary information required for making an informed permit decision. The permit application was deficient in the following areas: When conducting the field review of the 401 Certification Application for NCSR 1260, Dogwood and Wildcat Drives two (2) streams were noted that were not included in the application. These streams are located at or near Stations 73+00 and 144+50. On March 6, 2007, I met with Mr. Mark Davis, 1\Ir. Ben Williams and Mr. Wesley Jamison and reviewed these sites and Mr. Jamison indicated that a modified 401 Certification Application would be submitted after additional information was collected at each site. Please revise the application to include both streams. Therefore, pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H .0507(a)(5), we will have to place the permit application on hold until we receive the requested information. Furthermore, until the NC Division of Water Quality receives the information, we request (by copy of this letter) that the US Army Cops of Engineers place the permit application on hold. Hopefully, we can work together to expedite the processing of your permit application. If you have any question or require additional information, please contact Mike Parker at 828-296-4500.
