Site inspection was conducted by Kevin Mitchell with the Asheville Regional Office on July 22, 2022. Nick Adams and
Reid Whitehead were present during the inspection. I also spoke with Brandon Dockery and Adam Dockery about the
project. The following are items that need attention:
- Station L 186+50 RT (Site 15) Additional sediment was observed in the stream. Source appears to be coming from the
sinkhole at Mountain Valley Country Store (private landowner). A contractor was replacing the pipe underneath the
store and intended to complete the work that day (no pump around). Information has been communicated to the
Asheville Regional Office of DWR regarding the activity and amount of sediment loss.
- Station L 188+00 LT (Site 15) Remove material that has accumulated behind the impervious dike in the 60" pipe.
Follow up photos were received on 7.28 showing this as complete.
- Station L 159+00 LT (Site 12) Sediment has accumulated at the outfall of the culvert in the energy dissipator. This
needs to be removed. Follow up photos were received on 7.28 showing this as complete. Unsure of source.
- Station 70+00 LT - Remove waste spoils placed against measure and stabilize on site. Stabilize slope.
Continue to add ground cover per NPDES stabilization timeframes.
