I q- D 1 S,�_ Reference your January 6, 2014 application regarding the construction of fixed access piers, floating docks, and an observation platform located off of Stone Chimney Road and the end of Levies Landing Road SW, adjacent to the Lockwoods Folly River, near Supply, Brunswick County, North Carolina. On March 16, 2005, we renewed general permit No. 197800056, (copy enclosed), that authorizes the maintenance, repair, construction and installation of piers, docks, boathouses and boat shelters, mooring piles, dolphins, jetties and breakwater structures in navigable waters of the United States, in the State of North Carolina pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. Your work is authorized provided it is accomplished in strict accordance with your submitted plans, the enclosed general conditions and the following special condition: In order to further protect the endangered West Indian Manatee, Trichechus manatus, the applicant must implement the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Manatee Guidelines, and strictly adhere to all requirements- therein. The guidelines can be found at http: / /www.fws.gov /nc -es /mammal /manatee guidelines.pdf. 2. The pilings associated with all of the floating docks shall be placed between the floating docks and the river bank. 3. The l Ox 10 swim platform/canoe launch must not extend more than 10 feet water -ward from the normal low water line. -2- Your proposed work is authorized if you can comply with all permit conditions. Please read the enclosed permit to prevent an unintentional violation of Federal law. As this Department of the Army regional general permit does not relieve you of the responsibility to obtain any other required approvals, you should contact appropriate State and local agencies before beginning work.
