Boyd: I located the end of the existing discharge pipe that is shown on the drawings that will be the discharge from the retention area. The distance from the end of the existing pipe to the top of bank for Elk River is 50' and does pass through vegetative buffer. Attached you will find pictures of the condition. I believe the condition satisfies the requirement outlined in the code. Any questions or additional comments call or email. I'm glad we talked and I hope I can get on with the review when I return on July 14th. However, I have got to have the most updated copies of all of the drawings pertaining to the stormwater aspects of the site. I realized why you do not see the storage numbers on your drawings that I see. The reason is that we have never received any of the drawings that you submitted to me electronically today. All of the earlier drawings we received were approved in July or September of 2013 and all of the drawings that you sent today were approved on February 6, 2014.. Therefore, please send me a full -sized copy of all of the plans so I can evaluate how the plans meet our requirements. You should note that the "Sediment Basin Plan" drawing dated as approved on 2/6/14 that you sent today is different from the hard copy one that we received recently, also dated as approved on 2/6/14. The storage numbers are different and I noticed that there are changes in the wet pond drawings. Please send the documents to Boyd DeVane, NC Division of Water Resources, 1617 MSC, Raleigh, NC 27699 -1617. Us having the same documents should make the review less frustrating. Boyd: Good to talk to you today attached you will find the information we discuss. My calculation for the size of the pond is 11,060 CF and I have provide 11,883 CF. I do not find on the drawings a difference in volume number. Please review and if you have additional comments please advise. Have a good vacation. Obviously I did not explain the drawings that I had been reviewing very well. I did inadvertently review an older version of one drawing and I noted that in my email below. Perhaps it would be better to try to discuss this via telephone. Please call when you get a chance. I will be leaving today about 3:00 pm and will be out for two weeks. Therefore, if I can help clear this up today, it might expedite the plan approval. I can be reached at 919 - 807 -6373. In looking at my June 12th email, I realized that several of the comments I made were based on my viewing an older version of the "Sediment Basin Plan ". I even noted that I was viewing the September 13, 2013 version and you may have caught that. Therefore, please forgive my inaccurate memo and ignore the following comments: • On #2, 1 mentioned that I could not find the forebay. I do now see the forebays in the 2/16/14 version. • On #3, 1 mentioned the "volume provided in the filter area is 13,710 cu. ft." I think that that the 13,710 figure was from an old drawing. However, the "Water Quality Notes and Calculations" do show a volume in the pond of 11,060 cu.ft. and the drawing indicates a storage of 12,606 cu. ft. There may be some confusion because of the forebay volume but I'd appreciate you checking on that. Please ignore #4 on the underdrain and filter fabric. I was looking at the earlier version of the drawing. Please ignore #10. You found the slope error and corrected it. I feel much better about the submittal now that I am looking at the updated drawing. I apologize if my mistake caused you any additional work. I am, however, having some difficulty seeing the elevation lines (above the 3675.5 line) around the pond and would appreciate you sending the 2 -6 -14 drawing in a PDF version. Also, I'm not sure if this is an issue but the bottom of the drop inlet #1 of forebay #2 looks like it will be flooded at the design storm event. This may be your only option but you might check on that. (PS. Any other drawings, like the drainage area delineation, can also be submitted by PDF.) I will be out on vacation on Monday the 30th and return on July 14th. I will be in the office some tomorrow and most of the day on Thursday and Friday. If you feel like you could benefit from talking to me before I go on vacation, please give me a call. <Elk Creek.pdf>
