Box 249 Bolivia, NC 28422 Subject: Variance Request Approval Brunswick County Stanbury Creek Subdivision (WQ0032228 MOD) Brunswick County Dear Mr. Shutak: The Division of Water Resources (Division) has reviewed the submitted variance request received on April 29, 2022 for the subject project. The Division will grant the variance request for the use of three interference boxes, as indicated on the provided plans; subject to the following requirements in accordance with the provisions for alternative design under 15A NCAC 02T.0105(n): 1. Pursuant to the variance request received from Norris & Tunstall Consulting Engineers, P.C. on behalf of Brunswick County, a variance is granted for the operation of approximately 7 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer within an interference box at STA 2+34 on Creek Stone Way, approximately 7 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer within an interference box at STA 2+86 on Creek Stone Way, and approximately 7 linear feet of 8- inch gravity sewer within an interference box at STA 7+57 on Tradition Way. 2. Gravity sewer lines suspended through conflict/interference boxes to resolve intersections with storm drains shall be constructed of ductile iron pipe with mechanical joints, utilizing the materials,testing methods, and acceptability standards meeting water main standards, in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T.0305(g). These lines shall be designated as high-priority sewers, subject to the conditions as outlined below: a. The section of gravity sewer as described above shall be designated as "high- priority sewer" in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T.0402. b. All other elements of this project shall be constructed in accordance with all applicable rules and statues including, 15A NCAC 2T;the Division of Water Resources' (Division) Gravity Sewer Minimum Design Criteria adopted February 12, 1996 as applicable; and the Division's Minimum Design Criteria for the Fast-Track Permitting of Pump Stations and Force Mains adopted June 1, 2000 as applicable.
