Ron Boone, of the Winston-Salem Regional Office (WSRO) of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR),
conducted a compliance evaluation inspection (CEI) of your Single Family Wastewater Treatment &
Disposal System on June 9th, 2022. Your assistance and cooperation were greatly appreciated.
Inspection findings are detailed in the attached water compliance inspection report.
Please be aware that the Division may take enforcement action against any permittee who fails to
comply with any requirement of their permit. Pursuant to NC General Statute (NCGS) 143-215.6A, a
civil penalty of not more than twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) may be assessed against any
person who violates or fails to act in accordance with the terms, conditions, or requirements of any
permit issued pursuant to G.S. 143-215.1.

Ron Boone, of the Winston-Salem Regional Office of the NC Division of Water Resources, conducted
a compliance evaluation inspection of your single family wastewater treatment and disposal system
on 6/9/22. Your assistance and cooperation were greatly appreciated. Inspection findings are
detailed below and in the accompanying checklist.
During the inspection you were able to show Mr. Boone the locations of the septic tank, the sand
filter, the chlorinator, and the discharge pipe.
You stated that the septic tank is pumped at least every five years and that you have records of the
pumping events. This pumping schedule is sufficient to maintain the system in good condition.
There were no signs or indications of filter failure.
The chlorinator did have tablets in it at the time of the inspection. You should add 3 to 5 tablets per
tube each time you add them and then check to see if more tablets are needed at least weekly.
Please be sure to use a wastewater grade chlorine tablets that have Calcium Hypochlorite as their
active ingredient. DO NOT use swimming pool/spa tablets, or those that use any active ingredient
other than Calcium Hypochlorite, such as cyanuric acid, or any variation thereof. When handling the
tablets be sure to use gloves, eye, and skin protection, and follow all manufacturer safety
precautions. DO NOT smell the tablets or otherwise inhale their dust or vapors.
The discharge pipe is visible and inaccessible. You stated during the inspection that you have never
taken a sample of the discharge and that you have never seen it discharge. Please pull a sample at
your next opportunity and have it analyzed by a state certified laboratory for the parameters specified
in the general permit. Call us if you require any assistance in identifying a qualified laboratory.
There were no discrepancies or violations noted during the inspection. Annual permit fees are paid
and up to date.
