NCDWR does not require written authorization for the above project to proceed for the following reasons.
Permanent stream impacts associated with replacing Bridge 37 in Rockingham County are less than 40
feet;
The stream is located in the Roanoke Basin which is not subject to Riparian Area Protection Rules; and,
The Corps is approving under a NW3.
Keep in mind that while written authorization is not required for this project, all activities related to the project
(per the above referenced project and application material dated July 1, 2014) are subject to the Conditions of
Water Quality Certification No. 3883. If these Conditions cannot be met, then written approval from the
Division is required. All email correspondences will be archived in the project file for future reference.
