WSPD District #2 Bioretention Cell Restoration Project Field Operations/Stormwater
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
WSPD District #2 has a bioretention that receives stormwater runoff from the adjacent vehicle parking lot. This stormwater control measure (SCM)is located within the Salem Creek Watershed,
which is biologically -impaired due to excessive fecal coliform loadings. This SCM captures fecal coliforms (including nutrients and metals), thus reducing the pollutant loading to Salem Creek. The
reduction of fecal coliform waste loading is a requirement of the city's Stormwater NPDES permit, within the Total Maximum Daily Loading section. Since no maintenance activities have been
performed since 2017, this bioretention cell needs to completely restored to its original engineered state. Once restored, maintenance activities will need to performed on an annual basis - funds will
be secured from the Stormwater Division's operating budget.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY: This project does not qualify as a CIP due to the estimated total dollar amount
