Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary)
Lauren Armeni, with the Asheville Regional Office, conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection of
the Camp Watia WWTP on June 7, 2022. This inspection was conducted to determine whether the
facility is being operated and maintained in compliance with NPDES Permit No. NC0089478. Mark
Teague (ORC - Environmental Inc.), Shannon Raab (Executive Director), and Jared Reagan
(Property Coordinator) were present and assisted in the inspection. Overall, the facility appeared to
be well-maintained and operated.
Since the last inspection in 2017, the influent pump station high level audible and visual alarms have
been fixed and now work when the float is raised.
The following issues were noted at the time of the inspection:
1. Equalization Basin: The high level audible alarm was not working when the float was raised. The
visual alarm was working. Mr. Reagan said this issue would be fixed as soon as possible.
2. Effluent Pipe: The effluent pipe could not be accessed during the inspection because the right of
way to the outfall was overgrown. Mr. Reagan sent pictures of the pipe and receiving stream on June
13, 2022 after the area was cleared. Access to the effluent pipe needs to be maintained.
