MAINTENANCE:
1. INSPECT THE TEMPORARY BASIN AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK AND AFTER EVERY RAINFALL 1/2 INCH OR GREATER AND REPAIR
IMMEDIATELY. REMOVE SEDIMENT AND RESTORE BASIN TO ITS ORIGINAL DIMENSIONS WHEN THE SEDIMENT HAS ACCUMULATED TO ONE
HALF THE DEPTH OF THE FIRST BAFFLE. PULL THE SKIMMER TO ONE SIDE SO THAT THE SEDIMENT UNDERNEATH IT CAN BE
EXCAVATED. EXCAVATE SEDIMENT FROM THE ENTIRE BASIN, NOT JUST AROUND THE SKIMMER OR THE FIRST CELL. MAKE SURE
VEGETATION GROWING IN THE BOTTO OF THE BASIN DOES NOT HOLD DOWN THE SKIMMER.
2. REPAIR THE BAFFLES IF THEY ARE DAMAGED. RE —ANCHOR THE BAFFLES IF WATER IS FLOWING UNDERNEATH OR AROUND THEM.
3. IF THE SKIMMER IS CLOGGED WITH TRASH AND THERE IS WATER IN THE BASIN, USUALLY JERKING ON THE ROPE WILL MAKE THE
SKIMMER BOB UP AND DOWN AND DISLODGE THE DEBRIS AND RESTORE FLOW. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, PULL THE SKIMMER OVER TO
THE SIDE OF THE BASIN AND REMOVE DEBRIS. ALSO CHECK THE ORIFICE INSIDE THE SKIMMER TO SEE IF ITS CLOGGED; IF SO REMOVE
DEBRIS.
4. IF THE SKIMMER ARM OR BARREL PIPE IS CLOGGED, THE ORIFICE CAN BE REMOVED AND THE OBSTRUCTION CLEARED WITH A PLUMBER'S
SNAKE OR BY FLUSHING THE WITH WATER. BE SURE AND REPLACE THE ORIFICE BEFORE REPOSITIONING THE SKIMMER.
5. CHECK THE FABRIC LINED SPILLWAY FOR DAMAGE AND MAKE ANY REPAIRS WITH FABRIC THAT SPANS THE FULL WIDTH OF THE
SPILLWAY. CHECK THE EMBANKMENT, SPILLWAYS, AND OUTLET FOR EROSION DAMAGE, AND INSPECT THE EMBANKMENT FOR PIPING AND
SETTLEMENT. MAKE ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY. REMOVAL ALL TRASH AND OTHER DEBRIS FROM THE SKIMMER AND POOL
AREAS.

CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS
1. AFTER TEMPORARY SEDIMENT TRAPS, DIVERSION DITCHES, AND SILT
FENCE IS INSTALLED, CLEAR, GRUB, AND STRIP TOPSOIL FROM AREAS
UNDER THE EMBANKMENT TO REMOVE TREES, VEGETATION, ROOTS,
AND OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL. CONSTRUCT DAM. DELAY
CLEARING THE POOL AREA UNTIL THE DAM IS COMPLETE AND THEN
REMOVE BRUSH, TREES, AND OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIALS TO
FACILITATE SEDIMENT CLEANOUT.
2. GRADE THE BASIN ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFIED DIMENSIONS ON
SHEET C-109 AND C-512.
3. FILL MATERIAL SHOULD BE CLEAN MINERAL SOIL, FREE OF ROOTS,
WOODY VEGETATION, ROCKS, AND OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL.
PLACE FILL MATERIAL ACCORDING TO CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS.
4. SECURELY ATTACH THE RISER TO THE BARREL OR BARREL STUB TO
MAKE A WATERTIGHT STRUCTURAL CONNECTION. SECURE ALL
CONNECTIONS BETWEEN BARREL SECTIONS BY APPROVED WATERTIGHT
ASSEMBLIES. PLACE THE RISER IN CONCRETE ANTIFLOTATION BLOCK
AS SHOWN ON SHEET C-512.
5. INSTALL THE EMERGENCY SPILLWAY.
6. CONSTRUCT THE STRUCTURE SO THAT THE DISTURBED AREA IS
MINIMIZED. DIVERT SURFACE WATER AWAY FROM BARE AREAS.
STABILIZE THE EMERGENCY SPILLWAY AND EMBANKMENT AND ALL
OTHER DISTURBED AREAS ABOVE THE CREST OF THE SPILLWAY
IMMEDIATELY AFTER CONSTRUCTION.
7, INSTALL SKIMMER. CONNECT SKIMMER TO RISER BARREL AS SHOWN
ON THE PLANS. TEMPORARILY PLUG THE 2 INCH ORIFICE ON THE
RISER STRUCTURE.
8. PREVENT THE SKIMMING DEVICE FROM SETTLING INTO THE MUD BY
EXCAVATING A SHALLOW PIT UNDER THE SKIMMER OR PROVIDING A
LOW SUPPORT UNDER THE SKIMMER OF STONE OR TIMBER.
9. INSTALL POROUS BAFFLES ACCORDING TO THE TEMPORARY SEDIMENT
TRAP DETAIL ON C-510.
10. ONCE THE SITE IS STABILIZED AND ALL TEMPORARY MEASURES HAVE
BEEN REMOVED, REMOVE ALL SEDIMENT DEPOSITED DURING
CONSTRUCTION. REMOVE TEMPORARY BAFFLES, REPAIR EROSION
FEATURES, AND RESTORE THE VEGETATED SHELF BEFORE THE BASIN
CAN OPERATE AS A WET POND. INSTALL PERMANENT BAFFLES.
REMOVE SKIMMER AND RESTORE RISER TO FINAL WET POND DESIGN
WITH GATE VALVE CLOSED AND 2 INCH ORIFICE OPEN.
11. POND SLOPES SHALL BE STABILIZED WITH PERMANENT VEGETATION
AND PERMANENT OUTLET PROTECTION INSTALLED PER THE PLANS.
