Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2022 7:11 AM To: Harrison, James A Cc: Tankard, Robert Subject: RE: CAMA MAJOR: Bells Island Campground in Currituck County Good morning Jimmy. I really don't have comment on this one. The bulkhead alignment is as close to existing as possible with the only wetlands impacted being the opportunistic ones that established in the space between the existing and even older remnant bulkhead. The ramp is a push in with no excavation. While the bulkhead and riprap placement in front of the bulkhead is rather long, the water classification is SC, it is not open to shellfish harvesting, and no SAV were noted (there may be some, but I'm siding with the May field representative site visit on this one). I'm not going to request a moratorium. It is likely the work will be done outside the moratorium anyway due to camping season and permit issuance timing. It is only a one time event, so I don't have cumulative concerns. Thank you for the coordination. Maria Maria T. Dunn Coastal Coordinator NC Wildlife Resources Commission 943 Washington Sq. I know that for the 2020 version that was just the ramp, I went with no comment. But with the addition of more bulkhead and riprap, I'm leaning towards recommending the standard moratorium due to the scope of work. Thanks!
