I asked the designers to move the concrete flumes to a location that provided the most opportunity for treatment. They initially had the flumes adjacent to the bridge in a location that did not provide much vegetated buffer. They moved the flumes back away from the bridge to a location that had a wider road shoulder and buffer area (approximately 80-100ft. from Deep Creek bridge). The plans show each location on the 4 quadrants. Bridge # 15 has no deck drains located on the bridge. The storm water is routed to a flume on the south side of the bridge. The discharge point is approximately 45 feet from the canal. Bridge # 10 has no deck drains located on the bridge. The storm water is routed to a flume on the south side of the bridge. The discharge point is approximately 50 feet from the main stem of Pains Bay Canal (bridge) and 20 feet from the road side canal. Thanks, Clay From: Ward, Garcy Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2014 4:49 PM To: Williams, Paul C Subject: Dare Bridges Paul, Can you check on bridges 3, 10, and 15 in Dare Co. and let me know if the proposed structures have any deck drains on them? If so, how far from the stream are they located and will there be opportunity for vegetated treatment of the stormwater discharge. The applications say there will be no deck drains discharging directly into surface waters, but it’s not specified that there are no deck drains at all. Thanks.
