SUBJECT: WRC Comments on National Forests in North Carolina (USFS) 404 Application for
Tucker Creek Stream Enhancement, Tucker Creek, Transylvania County
Dear Mr. Brown:
A permit was requested by the USFS to construct in- stream structures to protect eroding stream banks in
Tucker Creek, Transylvania County. Comments from the NCWRC on this application are offered for
your consideration under provisions of the Clean Water Act of 1977 (33 U.S.C. 466 et. seq.) and Fish and
Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 661- 667d).
The NCWRC supports the proposed project and the efforts to reduce sediment impacts to Tucker Creek.
The NCWRC has records of wild brown trout at the project location. As a result, we request the trout
spawning moratorium for brown trout be required for this project.
Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on this regulatory action. Please contact me at
(828) 659 -8684 x221 if you have any questions about these comments or need further assistance.
Sincerely,
X4
