RE: Letter of Authorization, CAMA Major Permit No.No. 77-19,Replacement of Bridge No. 38 over Trent
Creek on NC 55,Pamlico County, TIP No. B-4593.
Dear Mr. Harris:
This letter is in response to the N.C. Department of Transportation(NCDOT) letter dated May 6, 2022,
including the attached workplan drawings(8)dated May 6,2022. The request is for revisions to the utility plans
for relocation of electric utility lines. NCDOT states that the reason for the modification request is that Duke
Energy did not believe the original design was structurally adequate and wanted to increase the resiliency of
their facilities. A new pole is proposed in Coastal Wetlands, and steel encasements will be put around all the
proposed poles. This results in an increase of 21 square feet of permanent impacts to Coastal Wetlands.
Please be advised that through this Letter of Authorization,DCM conveys its determination that revisions to
the utility plans for relocation of electric utility lines, as described in the NCDOT request dated May 6,2022,are
consistent with existing State rules and regulations and are in keeping with the original purpose and intent of
CAMA Major Permit No. 77-19.
This Letter of Authorization shall be attached to the original of CAMA Major Permit No. 77-19,which was
issued on September 13,2019, and copies of both documents shall be readily available on site when a DCM
representative inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit remain in
force unless altered herein. This approval does not eliminate the need to obtain any additional permits,
approvals or authorizations that may be required.
