Kings Mountain, NC Facility) La n ette, Since there has been a report submitted for these outfalls already, there are data tied to them that we cannot remove. Here's what we need to do for the time being: I have added a Monitoring Suspension on both Outfalls #2 and #7. It has to start on the beginning of a month, so I chose 5/1/2022 (after the date of the inspection). It lasts until permit expiration. I have added a comment on the permit that these outfalls should be removed at renewal of the permit (that is our next opportunity to do so without compromising existing monitoring reports). This means reports for May 2022 onward shouldn't include those outfalls as options to report for. This information should refresh in eDMR by Monday, so please log on then to see if it's updated. *The note to perform this action may get missed at renewal, so please touch base with Stormwater staff at that time to make sure it's done. They can refer to the comment on this version of the permit (version 3.0) Related Permits E Waiver Outfall Comments History r Inspections r Incidents Enforcements rViolations Details 1 details 2 Billing r CIass.lDesig. r Events r Reg. Kings Mountain, NC Facility) CAUTION: External email. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam. Bethany, I left you a voicemail message earlier this afternoon concerning the removal of Outfalls 2 & 7 from the eDMR System for the CORMETECH, Inc. Kings Mountain, NC facility (COC NCG030714) located at 304 Linwood Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. The attached reports were received from Lily Kay after a site visit to our Kings Mountain, NC facility on Thursday, April 28, 2022, by Ms. Kay and Matthew Gigante. Although Ms. Kay notes Outfalls 1 & 7 on pages 2 & 3 of the attached Compliance Inspection Report (PDF Document), it is actually Outfalls 2 & 7 that exclusively receive stormwater flow from parking areas and that should be removed from our sampling and reporting requirements in the eDMR System. We are in the process of removing these two outfalls from our facility SWPPP now. I have copied Lily Kay on this communication so that she can confirm that the attached report should reference Outfalls 2 & 7 that were approved for removal as Outfall 1 at this facility does have industrial exposure for stormwater. I currently have sampling results for the Q2 Stormwater Sampling for all Outfalls and for the May 2022 Tier 3 Response Stormwater Sampling that need to be submitted in the eDMR System. However, I was hoping to have Outfalls 2 & 7 removed from the system prior to my submission of these sampling results. Please feel free to contact me via my cell phone (980-722-1811) should you have questions concerning this request or if we need to discuss this process further. Thanks! Please note that in the stormwater inspection report summary we ask that you continue additional sampling and plans for outlet improvements to reduce the stormwater metal concentrations. The report should be self-explanatory; however, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (704) 663-1699 or by E-mail at lily.kay@ncdenr.gov. Outlet 4 is in Tier III for copper and outlet 6 is in Tier III for Copper and Zinc. The Permittee has installed rip rap and Metalox Filtersox in the channels of the outlets. During the inspection it was determined that outlet 1 and 7 are not indicative of the facility's industrial activity because those discharges are associated with parking lots. These outlets can be removed from the sampling protocol. Additional sampling is needed from the roof drains and a background sample as they were identified as potential contributors to the exceedances. The facility has plans to improve the outlets with additional rip rap and anchors for the Metalox Filtersox. The facility is closing the wastewater basin and installation of a stormwater basin in this area may be beneficial for passive treatment. There are also other metal absorption technologies that can be implemented to reduce the metal concentrations. Submit all additional sampling to the Mooresville office for technical review and reassessment of the discharges. If you have questions, contact me at Lily.
