Alan and David,
Following up on our on-site meeting held on May 22, please find attached plan sheets G-001, C-105, supplemental
project narrative and revised PCN sheets 1, 3, 4 and 5.
The documents were created and/ or revised based on our meeting:
The NWP numbers were revised to be 3 and 12.
The stream bank repair was removed from the total stream impacts. As we discussed, this is because it was a
previous impact that is being repaired.
Stream impacts were subdivided on the PCN and are referenced on plan sheet C-105.
A floating turbidity curtain is specified for use at the stream bank repairs. We are proposing to utilize NCDOT
special provisions to specify the materials.
Sheet C-105 was prepared to illustrate the stream impacts. As we discussed, we are proposing to lower the
sandbar downstream of the bridge 12-24” – this area is noted on the plans. We believe the sandbar is
embankment material that was from the previous arch culvert structure and deposited slightly
downstream. The sandbar material will be deposited in an eddy directly west and stabilized with an existing
root wad – also noted on the plan. Lowering the sandbar will allow the majority of the work to be performed in
the dry.
Utility impacts will be located upstream of the bridge.
The supplemental project narrative describes the stream impacts in greater detail.
Also, due to the nature of the project, it is not feasible to completely work in the dry for all aspects of the project. As
such, we are requesting a waiver from the requirement that all work be performed in the dry.
Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any comments or questions.
Thank you,
Greg Hoffman , PE, CPESC
