Brad and Hannah,
Sorry for the delay in following up on this one. We lifted the suspension of this project on Friday
after the necessary corrective actions were completed by the contractor. The material that was lost
beyond our measures and within the hand clearing areas was retrieved and the slope failures were
repaired. Some additional measures were added including additional lines of silt fence and additional
slope drains to hopefully prevent further losses at this project while the contractor finishes the
permanent bridge. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
Thanks!

Brad and Hannah,
We have once again suspended work at Duplin Bridge 36 (B-5639) until the erosion control concerns
can be addressed and all of the material retrieved from the loss sites. This is was a necessary
response to them not having taken immediate corrective action on retrieving losses, removing
material from the hand clearing areas, and fixing the slopes which once again have large failures. It is
my understanding that they have multiple crews out there now. We will be making additional site
visits this week and will follow up once the cleanup had been done satisfactorily.
Thanks,
Sean Farrell

David,
As per our phone conversation and the attached Suspension of Work Letter on C204535, we have
erosion concerns that need immediate attention on the project. We understand that you have slabs
coming tomorrow and we will allow these to be set in conjunction with removing the material that
has been displaced beyond the silt fence at the same time. Once the slabs have been set no
additional work is to be done on the project except erosion items until it is determined that all
needed repairs have been completed. Per our conversation additional slope drains and silt fence will
be a part of this repair effort.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Nathan H. Tew
