I am currently reviewing the groundwater data and drafting the permit. I am struggling with the data set. • The groundwater data summary included an analyte "IPE" in Table 1. A search on PubChem returned 2-(Isopropylamino)ethanol, which is not common to any pollutant scan that I know of. Was this a type-o for DIPE (Diisopropyl ether)? The chemical in question is diisopropyl ether. The first historical lab report listed the compound as IPE, and that acronym got carried over from that. But IPE and DIPE refer to the same compound and are used interchangeably. I don't know why there are two seemingly contradictory names for that compound, but I'm no organic chemist. • For Lead in Table 1 there are two values that seem unusual: MW-6 (3/1/1996) 0.0093J µg/L and MW-7 (3/1/1996) 0.0089J µg/L. I haven't seen Lead data reported down to the ng/L level before. Were the units reported as mg/L on the original lab reports instead? I reviewed the prior historical report these data were taken from. You are correct that the unit listed for lead was mg/L. The two concentrations should read as 9.3 ug/L and 8.9 ug/L, respectively. I have revised Table 1 accordingly; please see attached. • Also do you have the PQLs for the no detects "ND" in Table 1? The PQL would be the same as the "report limit" instead of the MDL. The revised Table 1 also includes the limits from the historical lab reports. Thanks, Derek C. Denard Environmental Program Consultant N.C. Division of Water Resources N.C.
