REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION: STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Dear Mr. Niekamp:
On March 27, 2007, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) issued a 401 Water Quality Certification to
impact to fi110.49 acre of wetland and 1501inear feet of stream or waters in order to construct the
proposed development in Cabarrus County as described in your application received by the DWQ on
January 16, 2007: In order to meet Condition 6 of the 401 Certification for this prof ect, a stormwater
management plan was submitted to the DWQ on July 19, 2007. The DWQ has determined that your
stormwater management plan was incomplete as discussed below.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Please compute the runoff volume to the wetland using the discrete curve number method (see
Chapter 3 of the new BMP Manual). The composite curve number method may not be used.
2. Please provide an appropriately sized orifice for extended detention wetland #1 that will draw down
the one-inch storm in two to five days.
3. Please relocate the two most northern inlets of extended detention wetland #1 if possible. As they
are currently proposed, the stormwater will likely short-circuit through the wetland system without
receiving adequate treatment.
4. Please regrade extended detention wetland #2 to promote stormwater flow into the northern end of
the wetland system.
5. Please include a separate extended detention wetland worksheet for extended detention wetland #2

6. Please provide the planting plan for extended detention wetland #1 on a single plan sheet for easier
reference. Please provide a planting plan for extended detention wetland #2. The planting plan
should include scientific names of plants, overall numbers of each plant species needed, plant
densities as well as nursery and soil specifications. The currently proposed planting plan does not
include an adequate number of different species of herbaceous plants nor does it include an
adequate plant density. Please see the stormwater wetland chapter of the DWQ BMP Manual,
available at: http~//h2o enr.state.nc.uslsu/bmp manual.htm.
The DWQ will require the above additional information to finalize review of the stormwater management
plan for the subject property. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review
