Annette,
we are suppose to backfill 88% sand, 10% fine and 2% organic.
Does the sand need tobea specific size? None is specified in the BK4P Manual, so| say gmwith
what is available.
What are fines? Can that be the excavated dirt? Yes, that vvom|d be e good source of fines.
What is organic? Can that be compost? Yes, compost would be perfect.
Who dovve contact toinspect? You are not required to have it inspected, although you are
supposed tQ fill out a Certificate Qf Completion form, available

We plan to have this complete and moved in by June 13th. Great!

Unfortunately it is still not quite right. If they install it as drawn, it will not retain water correctly. I
recommend that we have a brief meeting to iron it out, but we can try to go over it via phone if you
wish. It is such a visual thing, it is difficult to describe over the phone.

Dear John and Lindsay:
I have reviewed the bioretention cell design that you provided on Friday. There is still some
information that is needed before I can review the stormwater management plan as described
below.
1. Please show the following information on the lot layout sheet:
a. The proposed boundaries of the drainage easement. A minimum distance of 10 feet on all
sides of the bioretention cell is required. Please note that entire drainage easement is typically
on the lot which it serves — this makes it difficult for the bioretention cell to be built directly on
the lot boundary. See attached drawing
b. The area of the roof that will drain to the bioretention cell. See attached drawing
c. One -foot contour lines showing the grading for the lot and bioretention cell. These contour
lines should show the weir that will be used to bypass storms greater than one inch. See
attached drawing

2. Please provide a specification for the bioretention cell media and the mulch that will be
used. For this item and item (3) below, you will find guidance in the BIVIP manual atthe
following link: http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wq/ws/su/bmp-chL2Z. 88% Sand, 10% clay
and 2% peat moss.
Please provide a planting plan for the tree and herbaceous plants that will be planted in the
bioretentionoeU. The planting plan should include the species, the size and the locations of the
plants. See attached drawing. Species and size tmfollow.
